Friday April 29th

This weekends Fancy Drink Friday was inspired by Vincent Van Vogh.
How? Easy Absinthe.
Well, we can't get the original stuff here in the US, but this comes close enough.

For those unfamiliar with Absente (US available version), click here

The Original Sazerac:
Ingredients
Absinthe, to rinse
2 ounces cognac
1/2 ounce simple syrup
3 dashes Peychaud’s bitters
Garnish: lemon peel

Steps
Rinse a chilled Old Fashioned glass with the absinthe, fill with crushed ice and set aside.

Add the cognac, simple syrup and bitters into a mixing glass with ice and stir until well-chilled.

Discard the ice and any excess absinthe from the prepared glass, and strain the drink into the glass.

  1. Wow, that seems pretty intense! I may have to stick to a Shirley Temple this week!
